Black Jack Street
Cirencester - Black Jack Street
Visitors taking a welcome refreshment break in the cafes along Black Jack Street in Cirencester, England. It is one of Cirencester’s oldest streets. It is believed to have taken its name from the statue of St John the Baptist which used to stand below the church facing down Black Jack Street, the statue became blackened with local metal forging activities and the street thus became known by the statue, 'Black Jack'. Sadly the statue is long since gone
